Look up my web pages http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas/spelling.htm Spelling and how it could be changed http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas/spelling.htm#word Can u spell? The best of us may not be perfect. Surplus letters bafl us all. Authors can cut the surplus letters from words which do not help with meaning or pronunciation, and often mislead. They need not be consistent – none of us are – but cutting surplus letters makes reading easier for disadvantaged and dislexic lerners, and overseas. I have experimental work on this, which can be replicated. http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas/spellresearch.htm
We hav been doing this for many words – like oeconomy to economy, and daemon to demon – but spellcheckers ar stopping progress. Why not gardian, garantee, and probabl, for exampl? http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas/intspel.htm
And for fun – download as a pdf the Book of Spells & Misspells – http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas/spmisspells.htm
